The Jim Coulter SUN 78's Collection, Auction #2: HIGHLIGHTS!

Closes Tuesday, June 27th, 2023 at 7:00 pm PT

Welcome to the second auction of a world class collection of original SUN and SUN label related 78 rpm records. Yes, it is the legendary Jim Coulter collection!

For years, Mr. Coulter aggressively went after SUN, Meteor and other Memphis related 78's attempting to amass a complete collection. He also collected Blues and other records recorded at SUN, but released by other labels.

Jim put his heart and soul into finding these 78's. If he located one he needed, he was relentless in pursuing it. Jim never obtained all the SUN 78's — I'm actually not sure if anyone has ever — but he got pretty darn close! And to top it off, most of his records are in very good condition.

Now in his 70's, Mr. Coulter has decided to call it good and stop his searching, thus giving others a chance to acquire his treasures, some of which are almost never for sale . . . until now.

SUN and anything related to it brings very spirited bidding as collectors worldwide are constantly trying to complete the label or add their favorites to their collection. Bidder beware — the super rarities should have aggressive bidding and much competition and even the more common items should generate numerous bids.

Because Mr. Coulter has so many high value records, I am splitting up his collection into at least five auctions. This is YOUR chance to get the "pick of the litter" of an amazing SUN and SUN related collection.

Questions are always welcome and, if possible, request a CALL BACK to give you the best shot at obtaining the records you can't live without! Nothing is being held back so if you don't see what you want in this auction, check out my next one.

Thank you, and Good Luck to all!

Billy "The Kid" Emerson, Rest in Peace

Billie "The Kid" Emerson12/21/1925 – 4/25/2023

Billy "The Kid" Emerson, a seminal Blues singer, song-writer and pianist who wrote the classic Rock & Roll song "Red Hot," died April 25 at 97 years old in a nursing home in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He was one of the first performers on SUN Records.

Mr. Emerson wasn't well-known nationally, however his records were regional hits and covered by others. His most celebrated composition, "Red Hot," was performed by The Beatles at the Star-Club in Hamburg. The tune charted for Sam The Sham And The Pharaohs in the 1960's.
